What is a feature story?
A feature story is an in-depth look at a person, event, program or thing. It consists of a mix of narration tracks (facts narrated by the reporter), natural sound and interview sound bites. As the script writer and editor, you need to find the right pattern and flow of using all three sources of sound and information.

- Use sound bites to offer explanation, insight, emotion or reaction
- Use the natural sound to help tell the story and describe the facts as well as help the audience "experience" the story.

Keep it simple
- short words instead of long ones
- short, quick sentences
- stay focused on the story at hand, don't get wordy or put in information that will bore your audience
What to feature?
Packages should have some depth to them -you want to be able to have at least three good facts about a story that can be expanded upon.
- What is happening at the school or in the community?
- Is there a group or activity in which you are involved that you would like to profile?
- Ask teachers and friends about interesting people, events or things that could make a good story
- Look on the district website, announcements, in local papers for ideas
