Video Critique / Shot Analysis
Homework – Shot Analysis
Homework Example
1. Find one clip to analyze.
2. Either watch it on TV or find it on the internet
3. Write down the source of your clip: (write down web address if on internet)
4. Find an example of each shot type (Establishing shot, wide, medium, tight, close up and extreme close up -
trucking shot and cutaways if possible.)
-- Write down how they impact the telling of the story. (What does it add, take away?)
5. Give us your final thoughts. What worked really well? What could the editor have done better? Any shot you felt
was missing that would add to the piece?
