SCRIPT: A script is a story written down. Just like you would write out a speech, this script is word for word what you want to share about a story including soundbites.

To practice the script writing process, choose to profile your partner. Find something to focus on about that person (maybe their future career, a hobby they have, a group they are involved with) and write a story with a soundbite to share.

- Think of what facts you can share about your story - Who is involved, what happened, where did it take place, when did it take place, what is the impact of the story, etc.
- Start with a good lead sentence that gets your audiences attention and introduces you to the topic
- Follow it up with the facts of your story in short, simple, easy-to-understand sentences. (Make sure they flow from one to the other.)
- End with a sentence that will alert your audience that the story is ending. What can you say to put a natural close on the story.

STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS:
- Talk with each other to decide on a topic
- Interview each other about the topic
- Import clips onto the computer desktop
- Log your interview - write down what they say
- Decide what soundbite is the best (choose the best 7-12 seconds to use)
- Write your script - (Start with a lead sentence, then add facts that lead up to the sound bite. Remember your sound bite needs to support your script. Add one more sentence after the sound bite to close out the story.)
- Edit your sound bite
- Export sound bite into folder
- You will read your script in front of the class and play your sound bite.
Interview tips:
- Do not ask yes or no questions

- Sound bites are used to add emotion/feeling, reaction or explanation to support the facts of your story
